Vegetarian frozen food company creates 'meat patch' to help curb meat cravings

Giving up meat isn't easy for all who choose to follow a vegetarian or vegan diet.

To help with this, Strong Roots, and Irish vegetarian frozen food brand teamed up with an Oxford researcher to help develop a "meat patch."

The idea is similar to a nicotine patch for smokers, but Strong Roots say the meat patch releases the odor of bacon after being scratched by the wearer.

The idea is that you'll smell the scent and imagine yourself eating the bacon and getting your meat fix that way.

Currently the patches are in the trial phase, and the founder of Strong Roots, Samuel Dennigan, says they're aimed at people interested in experimenting with a plant-based diet.

People on social media panned the meat patch.
