Tell us: what type of nocturnal bird of prey photobombed the universe

Chile — The European Southern Observatory (ESO) at the La Silla Observatory in Chile is a favorite for wildlife, but yesterday a webcam caught an amazing image of what they call "an unexpected visitor."

The image shows what scientists say is a nocturnal bird of prey perched on top of the lens of the all-sky camera on the Danish 1.54-metre telescope  with the stars sparkling in the background.

While they have not confirmed the exact species of bird, ESO states on their website they believe the feathered creature was hunting in the Chilean Atacama desert when it made a pit-stop, which suggests its nocturnal.

The website states that “the area is home to a wide range of wildlife, such as Vicunas, flame-like, Andean foxes with eyes Sharp, majestic birds of prey and wild horses, which roam freely.’

Take a good look the use the Open Mic feature in the News 96.5 WDBO App to tell us what kind of bird you think it might be.
