Orlando’s WDBO radio returns to AM 580, adds 107.3FM

Orlando’s WDBO radio is moving back to the AM signal that was the longtime home of the station - AM580.

The change, effective today (6/24) at noon, is designed to maximize radio signals operated by Cox Media Group - Orlando.

In a bit of musical chairs, WDBO moves exclusively to FM107.3 and AM580.

ESPN moves to our HD signal at 94.5FM HD2.

Our Spanish-language radio station will move into the FM96.5 signal effective Monday, June 29th.

"WDBO continues to be Central Florida's home for news, weather, and traffic,” said Keith Memoly, Director of Branding and Programming for WDBO. “With this move, the best news team in the business will be able to serve the Orlando community on multiple platforms.”

“With two dominant TV stations, six radio brands, and various digital platforms, Cox Media Group Orlando delivers the largest audience in Central Florida,” added Jason Meder, VP and General Manager for CMG Orlando Radio. “This move strengthens our portfolio of radio brands and reflects our commitment to serving the diverse community of audiences and advertisers in the market.”

WDBO has been heard by listeners on FM96.5 since August, 2011, when the station moved off of AM580 to make way for ESPN.

Now, with so many more streaming and listening options (app, streaming, Alexa, Google Home, etc), listeners have more options than ever before for hearing the news, weather and traffic of WDBO on many different delivery platform.

As more and more radio listeners move to digital distribution of WDBO, it has placed a lessor emphasis on broadcast signals.

The stay-at-home orders nationwide have altered radio listening habits as more and more people were not in their cars driving to work and back. The pandemic has drastically altered how people use their radio stations and Cox Media Group is the industry leader in giving listeners what they want and what they expect from the station.

Historically, WDBO has gone through many frequency (signal) changes since debuting on-air in 1924 in Winter Park at Rollins College. (WDBO HISTORY)
