News-Talk AM580 WDBO Begins Historic Simulcast on FM Radio

Orlando, Aug. 15, 2011 – For the first time in nearly 87 years on the air, News-Talk AM580 WDBO today is making an historic change in its operations by adding a 24-hour simulcast on FM radio at 96.5 FM, bringing more value to the Orlando community. Launch begins Friday, August 19th at 5 a.m.

“AM580 WDBO has an incredibly strong brand with award-winning News, Weather, Traffic and Talk format,” said Susan Larkin, Vice President of Cox Media Group’s Orlando radio operations.   “We are anticipating significant ratings growth by simulcasting WDBO on FM.  Previous simulcasts of this nature across the country have lead to very large share increases.”  WDBO’s News/Talk format will replace 96 Rock, which is a Rock radio format

“The decision to simulcast our 24-hour News-Talk format on FM will offer unique radio content to a wider listening audience,” Larkin added.   “Many members of Orlando’s radio audience have never visited the AM dial.  The simulcast of WDBO on FM allows us to penetrate twice the previously available listening audience to serve our local community as well as our advertisers.”

In addition to WDBO, Cox Media Group offers its Orlando listeners four other FM radio stations, Star 94.5 (WCFB-FM) Today’s R&B and Classic Soul, 98.9 WMMO – Soft Rock and Roll of Yesterday and Today, Power 95.3 (WPYO-FM) Orlando’s New #1 for Hip-Hop and K92 FM (WWKA-FM), The Most Country Music Guaranteed.

“We want to thank all of our 96 Rock fans and advertisers for supporting the station over the years, and we invite you to listen to FM 96.5 & AM 580 WDBO for your weather, news and talk,” said Larkin.  “We also invite you to listen to our sister station, 98.9 WMMO for some great Rock music.”

FM 96.5 & AM 580 News-Talk WDBO and news965.com, Orlando's most dominant and influential radio brand, reaches nearly 185,000 quality listeners every week. FM96.5 & AM580 News-Talk WDBO will deliver results to advertisers looking for homeowners, listeners with disposable income, or business to business opportunities.  WDBO is home to talk show hosts Neal Boortz, Clark Howard, and Sean Hannity. FM96.5 and AM580 News-Talk WDBO is the station Central Florida Depends on for News, Weather and Traffic.
