A monocled cobra remains at large after escaping from a home early Tuesday, the Ocala Police Department said.
Experts with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission believe the cold weather arriving on Wednesday will drive the snake underground or indoors.
The venemous snake escaped from a cage at about 3 a.m. at a home on Northeast 5th Street near Ocala Tuscawilla Park, police said.
Police sent out a phone alert to neighbors. "Do not approach it. If you see this snake immediately call 911," the recording said.
The cobra is tan and black in coloration, officers said.
Right now Ocala Police and Florida Fish and Wildlife are searching for a Cobra; that's on the loose in an Ocala Neighborhood. #WFTV

West Orange County residents remember a cobra scare of two years ago, when "Elvis" slipped out of its enclosure. The cobra's owner, Mike Kennedy, a sometimes wildlife TV show host, is facing charges.
The state revoked his license to keep exotic pets, but Kennedy is appealing.
