Orlando man ‘laying in the roadway’ run over by girlfriend

ORLANDO, Fla. -- A 24-year-old is dead after being 'unintentionally' run over by his girlfriend early Monday morning in a neighborhood near Pine Hills.

Florida Highway Patrol says Kevin Singh and 21-year-old Lakshmi Haimraj were driving from a friends’ house at about 3:15 a.m.  when he asked to get out of the car.

After he got out, Haimraj continued driving down the street but eventually circled back around to find him.

“As she came back around to see if she could locate him, she felt her vehicle run over something,” said Lt. Kim Montes.

A preliminary investigation suggests the victim was either sitting or laying near the intersection of Willowood St. and Providence Cir. when he was hit by a slow-moving car. There was minimal damage to the vehicle, Montes said.

Singh was transported to Health Central hospital where he was pronounced dead.

“We do not suspect that this was an intentional act or domestic. We just believe that this was an unfortunate crash that occurred after she tried to come back around to look for him,” said Montes.
