Orlando City Council votes Monday on minimum wage increase

Orlando, Fla. — Monday will be a big day for the Orlando City Council since it will vote on whether or not to raise the minimum wage for all city employees to $15 an hour by 2021.

If approved, any full time, part time, or seasonal city employee who makes less than $15 an hour will see an increase over the next three years. It would jump up to $13 this year, then to $14 in 2020 and finally $15 an hour by 2021. This would be looped into contracts for the Service Employees International Union, the International Association of Fire Fighters and the Laborers' International Union of North America.

Those who would be affected include folks like maintenance workers and gate attendants, as well as non-bargaining employees.
