US News and World Report: UCF ranks in worlds top 500 Universities

Orlando, Fla. — For the first time, the University of Central Florida has been listed among the top 500 "Best Global Universities"  in a ranking released Tuesday from U.S. News and World Report.

The annual report examines more than 1,599 universities across 81 countries evaluating13 performance metrics which also takes into account the schools' overall academic research and reputation.

UCF tied at 477th in the world, a big jump from last years 509.

The Knights scored highest for its reputation for  regional research at 159 and made the top 500 in all but four categories.

Its Engineering department ranked the highest according to subject at 196, with their global reputation coming in at 70.

Across the state, the University of Florida was ranked highest at 105, Florida State was 190 and the University of South Florida was 310.

Florida Institute of Technology in Brevard County came in at No. 454.

Harvard took the number one spot globally.
