Here are some things to do outside this Memorial Day Weekend

Orlando, Fla. — Memorial Day 2020 will not be the same as the ones in years past, but despite certain changes due to the coronavirus, there are still some ways that you and your family can make the most out of your Memorial Day weekend. Here are some ideas of things you can do:

Visit some smaller attractions

Nothing beats checking out the attractions that although are not as major as the theme parks, they are still just as fun. Gatorland, Funspot, and the Orlando Starflyer are all excellent suggestions since they have re-opened their doors just in time for Memorial Day weekend.

Go to a beach or water park

Now that all 23 beach access ramps in Volusia County are open again, you can plan a beach trip there or any of the beaches in Central Florida. However, the beaches in Broward and Miami Dade Counties will remain closed through the Memorial Day Weekend.

In addition, the Island H20 Live water Park that's attached to the Margaritaville Resort Orlando will reopen Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will be markers for social distancing, more hand sanitizer stations, wellness checks for guests, and cashless options for food and tickets.

Go to a mini golf course

The Congo River Golf and Pirate Cove locations are back open, and have new procedures to ensure your safety, including not re-using golf pencils. Depending on which location you go to, their standards may vary.

Go to an arcade

Dave and Busters on International Drive is open again, and will be open this Memorial Day weekend from noon to 11 p.m. Masks, disinfectant wipes and gloves will be available, but keep in mind that some games will not be available for play. There is also a limitation of how many people will be allowed inside, so get there as early as you can.

Go to a dine in theater

The Epic Theatres in Clermont will be hosting 80's movies this weekend at its drive in location. On Saturday, they will be showing The Great Outdoors and The Karate Kid. On Sunday, they will be showing Pretty in Pink and The Breakfast Club. The concession stand will be open, but they are only taking credit payments. You can find out more here.

Make a "run" for it

If you truly want to honor our fallen soldiers, you can register for the Remember the Fallen Virtual 21K run. You simply sign up on the event page, choose where you will be running your 21K race, run it, and then submit your results and earn your medal! You can even register for the next race! Details and charity information can be found here.

Visit a cemetery

You can always pay your own personal respects to a fallen soldier you know by visiting a cemetery. If you feel like taking a bit of a field trip, you can visit the Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell. However, certain parts like the public information center and chapels may be closed. You can find more information here.
