Palm Beach County, Fla. — For the first time in almost 30-years, a Florida cop is going to prison, convicted of wrongfully killing a man in 2015.
Last month, a jury found former Palm Beach Gardens Officer Nouman Raja guilty of manslaughter and attempted first-degree murder, Thursday Raja was sentenced to 25 years in prison .
Authorities say he was in plain clothes and driving an unmarked van in 2015 when he confronted musician Corey Jones, whose SUV broke down on Interstate 95 in West Palm Beach.
The approach of plain clothed Raja at 3 a.m.caused Jones to pull his legal handgun thinking he was being robbed, leading to a fatal confrontation.
