Fort Meade, Fla. — When a Polk County Sheriff's Office helicopter was called upon for help yesterday, nobody expected the rescuers to need rescuing.
The initial call was made after a gyrocopter crashed, but then deputies had a hard landing of their own.
The pilots could not be reached on foot, by boats, or all-terrain vehicles so a Coast Guard helicopter got the men out.
They were taken to the hospital, and expected to be okay.
