Sanford, Fla. — Just in time for the winter travel season, Allegiant Air has added 24 new nonstop routes designed to take travelers to warmer destinations - like Florida.
One of the new routes will fly round-trip from Albany, New York to Sanford.
Like most Allegiant flights, the planes will only depart from Sanford twice a week, on Thursday and Sunday, except in March and April when there are four flights per week.
The first flight on the new route will take off in two days.
I checked, if you schedule now for September on the airlines website, you can find flights as low as $47.50 one way.
Those prices nearly triple though, during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays.
Keep in mind, Allegiant, like fellow discounters Spirit and Frontier, charges low base fares plus fees for "extras,'' including a seat assignment, carry-on or checked bag, in-flight drinks and food and more
The Las Vegas-based budget airline's expansion also includes a return to Palm Beach, Florida, and Fort Collins, Colorado.
Allegiant hasn't served Fort Collins since 2012 and Palm Beach since 2016.
