'Zombie Cat' crawls out of grave, finds its way home

**UPDATE**

Bart, the Tampa kitty that miraculously made his way home after being pronounced dead and buried, has undergone surgery and is expected to make a full recovery.

According to the Daily Mail, Bart had an eye removed and his jaw repaired by Tampa Bay Veterinary Emergency Service and will be going home with his owner in a few weeks. The Save-a-Pet Medical Fund were able to help cover the costs of the expensive surgery.

Not even being hit by a car can stop this cat from coming home for dinner.

Bart was found on the side of a road after being run down by a car in Tampa, Florida. Veterinarians pronounced little Bart dead and he was buried. But that wasn't the last time they'd see the black and white cat.

Five days after being buried, Bart made it back to his owner Ellis Huston's house--just in time for dinner. Hutson told local news station Fox13 that Bart suffered head trauma, a broken jaw and a ruined eye that he'll most likely lose- but is very much alive. His neighbor first found Bart and calls it a miracle.

"This doesn't happen. Cats don't just come back to life. Not five days after they've been put in the ground."

According to the Daily Mail, rescuers at the Tampa Bay Humane Society, where Bart  is being treated, believed he may have crawled his way out from underground and then hid for a few days before gathering the courage to head home.

Although Bart is battered and dirty, he is friendly and purring...and will likely survive after cheating death.
