Body found in Orange County confirmed to be 82-year-old Clermont man

The body of an 82-year-old man who was reported missing last Friday has been found, deputies said.

Deputies said a man found Salvatore Gambino's body on his property just after 8:00 p.m. Monday in Orange County. Gambino's electric wheelchair and cane were located nearby.

Travis English told our news partner WFTV he was riding his four wheeler with a friend when he spotted Gambino.

"I could see some legs, and I went by too quick to get a glance, but when I turned around I noticed exactly what it was. I didn't go back. I just went to the garage to get my phone and call the police," English said.

More than 100 volunteers spent part of their holiday weekend searching for Gambino, who was last seen Friday evening near Grand Highway and Hunt Street in Clermont.

Clermont police believe Gambino left his home last Friday without taking his phone or wallet.

Authorities said there were no signs of foul play.

The case remains under investigation, pending a final determination by the Medical Examiner's Office.
