Theme park insider blogs are predicting the popular TRON Lightcycle Power Run ride from Shanghai Disneyland will soon replace the Tomorrowland Speedway attraction at Disney World’s Magic Kingdom.
According to WDW News Today, the TRON themed ride will open just before the park's 50th birthday, likely in 2020 or 2021. The blog cites "several unrelated sources within the Walt Disney Company."
Back in April, budgeting teams from Florida reportedly scouted the TRON ride at Shanghai to explore the possibility of its inclusion at Disney World.
The ride it could replace, Tomorrowland Speedway, has been open since Magic Kingdom’s opening in 1971.
WDW News Today speculates the new ride will formally be announced on Saturday, July 15th during the D23 Expo.
