Church compensates fired Florida Outback server they stiffed on $735 order

PALM BEACH GARDENS, FLORIDA — **UPDATE**

Christ Fellowship, the church that stiffed the Outback Steakhouse server on a $735 take-out order, has compensated the woman.

"(Christ Fellowship) said a couple of the church families came together for me," Tamlynn Yoder said.

She said the compensation totaled “more than the tip.”

Outback has not contacted Yoder since her firing.

**ORIGINAL STORY**

An Outback Steakhouse server  in Palm Beach Gardens says she is out of a job after she was stiffed on a $735 take-out order placed by a church....and complained about it on social media.

Christ Fellowship placed an order for 25 steaks, 25 chickens and 25 potatoes on Wednesday morning at the restaurant. Tamlynn Yoder, 25, was there taking care of it.

"We take the order over the phone, we put the order together, take payment and then take order to the car," Yoder tells the Palm Beach Post. "It's a lot of work, just as much as serving."

When a volunteer from the megachurch came to pick up the order, Yoder put the food in the car,  but received zero tip. Yoder says she spent most of her shift preparing the 75-item order  and because she got stiffed, she only made  $18 in tips that day.

"I brought it out, put it in the car," Yoder told  WSVN-TV. "We received the payment. There was no gratuity. I got upset. I posted a post on Facebook about the church not leaving a gratuity tip."

Yoder didn’t post where she worked but said a male friend who saw it called the Christ Fellowship about the incident. That friend told her the church was going to contact the restaurant to make things right.

When Yoder came in for her shift the next day, her manager informed her that Christ Fellowship got a full refund for the entire order.... and she was no longer employed.

Per company policy, employees are forbidden from posting about customers on social media and can be subject to termination if the policy is violated.

Christ Fellowship said that didn’t mean for anyone to get fired.

Executive director of business at the church, David Lonsberry, tells The Post: “That night, we had a volunteer go to the restaurant and pick up the order since we were having a big conference. He probably didn’t know to tip since it was a rush of the moment thing.”

Still, the church has been getting slammed on their Facebook page   and on Twitter, some threatening to boycott the restaurant.

“Must be nice having all of that extra cash lying around after you ordered $750 worth of food, neglected to tip, then went well out of your way to have a young and hard-working woman fired from her job,” wrote Facebook user Natalie Stephens. “If that doesn't preach morals and values then what does, right?”

“Ask your waitress when you are eating out, not on Sun., who are the most rude people you serve,” wrote Ellis Young. “You will not like the answer, The Sunday church people.”
