Lake County father accused of drowning toddler at Lady Lake home

Lake County, Fla. — Update:  A Lady Lake father is under arrest, accused of drowning his 17-month-old daughter in a bath tub.

Lake County deputies said Ocala police received a call about 9:30 a.m. from the child’s mother saying her husband,  Jeremy Main,  38, called her and admitted to killing the toddler.

Deputies say when they arrived at Jeremy Main's home, they tried to make contact with him, but ended up making a forced entry into the house and found the toddler dead in a bath tub.

“It does not appear to be an accident based on language he used with the mother,” said Lake County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Fred Jones.

The Sheriff's office also said Main turned himself in to police. Deputies also said the incident may have stemmed from a marital issue between the child smother and father.

Neighbor Joe Washburn told channel 9 Eyewitness News, he couldn't believe something like this could happen anywhere, let alone so close to his home.

"That's just heartbreaking," he said. "Sickening. There's no excuse for it."

Jeremy Main is charged with first degree murder.
