FWC has identities of men who dragged shark behind boat

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission confirms they’ve identified the men in a video on social media showing them dragging a shark behind their boat.

Whoever is recording pans over to reveal three men on the boat, laughing as the shark is being dragged at a high rate of speed.  The shark appears to be tied by its tail. It was killed.

South Florida sport fisherman Mark Quartiano, also known as “Mark the Shark,” re-posted the video on his Instagram page and condemned it, saying “Force once I may have to agree with Peta.”

The man piloting the boat in the video can be seen wearing a Sarasota Slam T-shirt and tournament officials were quick to distance the event from the video and condemn those involved.

"The Sarasota Slam is in no way affiliated with the despicable behavior in the video on social media," tournament organizers wrote on the group's Facebook page.

The FWC is investigating whether it can file charges in the case.
