Florida man accused of stuffing little girl in oven

Authorities in Volusia County are trying to locate a DeLand man accused of abusing a 3-year-old girl and stuffing her in an oven.

Detectives with the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office say Terry L. Moore, 45, abused the girl over a period of time, leaving her with numerous injuries.

The girl told investigators with the Department of Children and Families that May repeatedly hit her with a belt and, during one incident, put her in an oven.

The girl’s injuries included several contusions and swelling on her head.  An extensive abrasion on her ear is consistent with a burn injury.  The girl also has a 6-inch scar on her back as well as abrasions and lacerations on her hands, feet and leg.

May is wanted on child abuse charges.  The sheriff’s office says the charge carries a $50,000 bond.

Detectives are trying to locate May.  His last known address was on Lenox Court in DeLand.

Volusia County sheriff Mike Chitwood has designated May “SCUMBAG of the Week.”

If you know anything about May’s whereabouts you’re asked to call the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office or Crime Stoppers of Northeast Florida at 888-277-TIPS.
