First degree murder indictment in Casselberry woman’s shooting

CASSELBERRY, Fla. — A grand jury in Seminole County has indicted John E. Murray for the February 17, 2018 murder of his girlfriend outside their apartment building.

Amber Christensen was found by deputies who responded to her 911 call minutes beforehand about a domestic argument. Murray surrendered peacefully after throwing his gun into the grass.

Christensen, according to a news report from her hometown of Spokane, Washington, had posted a photo of her nine-year-old son fishing at a lake with Murray about an hour before she was killed.

The boy was home during the shooting incident, according to witnesses.

Murray reportedly told police that he was unhappy with Amber, believing that she was contacting other men at the time.

A neighbor who was confronted by an armed Murray on the morning of the shooting told News 96.5 WDBO that the couple had recently moved into the apartment complex.

No trial date has been set. Murray remains in jail on no bond.
