WATCH: Homeowner opens fire on would-be robbers

A would-be robbing and possible murder turned into nothing more than a broken down door after a home owner opened fire on intruders.

Security video caught the whole thing on camera.

Four men broke down the door of a Bowling Green, Kentucky home just before midnight on Wednesday.

As they begin to look around the house, a barrage of bullets come flying at them from the back hall.

One of the intruders fire back with a handgun as they all quickly flee.

The homeowner said he had been sleeping at the time of the break-in and quickly grabbed his gun.

He was shot in the right hand by one of the return-fire bullets, but otherwise unhurt.

It isn't clear if any of the intruders were hit by gunfire, but investigators said they face attempted murder and burglary charges, WLKY reports.

Warren County Sheriff Brett Hightower told WDRB-TV of the incident, "It kind of plays into ... the mindset of those individuals ... when they forcibly made entry into somebody's home, came in there armed and attempting to locate somebody and exchanging gunfire with them and shooting somebody. It's invaluable to have that type of video footage."
