Timothy Brian Lankford, 38, of Athens, was charged with felony evading arrest, reckless endangerment, driving on a revoked license, light law violation, registration violation, driving an unregistered vehicle and not having insurance on the vehicle, according to Monroe County online records.

Monroe County sheriff’s Deputy Ray Haynes said that on Jan. 17, he observed a van with its rear light not working and had the license plate checked, the Advocate and Democrat of Madisonville reported.

Haynes said he turned on his emergency lights, but the driver refused to stop, the newspaper reported.

According to the sheriff’s office, Lankford continued to flee, but came to a stop at U.S. 411 and turned on his blinker light before turning onto the highway and accelerating, the Advocate and Democrat reported.

Haynes attempted several times to use a pursuit intervention technique before disabling Lankford’s vehicle, the newspaper reported.

After identifying Lankford, Haynes discovered that Lankford’s license had been revoked. Lankford was subsequently arrested and booked into the Monroe County Jail.
