Police seek woman, man accused of shooting, killing dog on Colorado street

LAKEWOOD, Colo. — Police in Colorado are looking for a woman and a man in connection with the shooting death of a dog on a Lakewood street.

According to KDVR, the incident occurred Saturday morning near 12th Avenue and Teller Street. Lakewood police received a report of gunfire about 7 a.m. and arrived to find a dead pit bull mix with bullet wounds.

Witnesses told investigators that a man and a woman parked a Chrysler 300 near the intersection and got out of the car, police wrote in a Facebook post Wednesday.

“Witnesses say the two appeared to be arguing when they exited the vehicle, and the female shot the dog while the male struggled with it and held it down,” read the post, which included surveillance footage from the scene. “The two immediately returned to the car and fled the scene, leaving the dog.”

Authorities said the woman, who was white or Hispanic, had blonde hair and wore jeans with a black shirt. The man, who also was white or Hispanic and had dark hair, wore jeans, a black shirt and white shoes, police said.
