COLUMBUS, Ohio — A 2-year-old boy was shot and killed Wednesday in Columbus, Ohio, authorities said.

According to WSYX and WBNS, the incident occurred about 8 p.m. at a North Monroe Avenue home. The toddler suffered a gunshot wound and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police said a teenager and another child were home when the shooting occurred, WSYX reported. Authorities have detained the teen and continue to investigate the case, according to the news outlet.
