It’s ‘time’ to clean your smartwatch

Boca Raton, Fla. — Experts at Florida Atlantic University say your plastic smartwatch is probably full of disease, like E-coli and staph.

The department of Biological Sciences teamed up with WPTV to see how  20 different types of watch bands test for disease and if its plastic it's most likely very, very dirty.

Four of the watches tested had E. coli on them and six others had traces of E. coli.

Nine had staph while seven others had high counts of both good and bad bacteria.

The only watch band to come out completely clean was gold! (It might be due to the fact you don’t work out in a gold watch- just guessing)

Your best bet is to actually take some time to clean your timepiece and biologists say soap and water will do the trick.
