Two Florida Democrats file suit to kick Sanders off the primary ballot

Tallahassee, Fla. — A lawsuit filed Monday in Leon County calls for Bernie Sanders to be disqualified from the democratic primary because he is a declared independent.

The complaint comes from Frank Bach, a retired letter carrier, and George Brown, a retired social worker, who also want to prevent election officials from counting any votes Sanders has already received though mail-in ballots.

The suit claims that the current front runner raises money as an independent but caucuses with democrats and since Florida is a closed primary state that makes him ineligible.

State Democratic Party leaders told Politico the complaint was  "ridiculous," while the Sanders campaign called it "spurious."

Sixteen candidates are currently on the party’s ballot, the primary is March 17.
