New models show Florida COVID-19 outbreak peaking 2 weeks earlier

The new peak for the COVID-19 or coronavirus in Florida is expected to be on April 21.

The  University of Washington's Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation (click here for the link) adjusted the model based on actions taken by state leaders, travel restrictions and how residents are reacting.

Previous models predicted the climax on May 3, but keep in mind the projections are updated weekly.

According to the latest information the next 14 days will be critical across the Sunshine State with as many as 200 people succumbing to complications of the virus by mid-month.

The data also indicates Florida will be short 769 ICU beds at the height of the crisis.

On April 21, Florida is expected to see 239 deaths and by August more than 6,700 Floridians are projected to die.

A stern warning though from experts not to let your guard down - other places have seen multiple peaks.
