Orlando, Fla. — Floridians are hitting the ocean today for the highly anticipated lobster mini-season that began at 12:01 a.m. Wednesday and runs through 11:59 p.m. Thursday.
The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission advises those who plan on taking part, to know the rules and regulations.
Fishermen are able to capture 12 lobsters per person, per day. If your headed south, Monroe County and Biscayne National Park are limited to six lobsters per person per day.
Agencies across Florida including FWC, Sheriff's patrol and the Coast Guard will be patrolling the waters and ensuring participants are playing by the rules.
For one, the carapace must be longer than three inches and measured in the water. The harvest or possession of eggbearing spiny lobsters is prohibited
