Pre-orders begin today for Ms. Monopoly, a game Hasbro created to celebrate women's empowerment.
The new version of the classic features a new mascot for the first time ever, and yes, it’s a female.
Hasbro says she is Mr. Monopoly's’ niece, a self-made investment guru, who “is here to celebrate women trailblazers and update a few things.”
There are several other changes to this version of the classic board game.
The biggest might be that female players will received $240 for passing go while their male counterparts will only receive $200.
This may be how Hasbro is living up to the new slogan, “The first game where the women make more than men.”
Other changes are also meant to empower women, instead of buying property, players will invest in inventions created by women, a change which the company says in a YouTube video “they hope will inspire young female inventors.”
The new version of the game has also become more modern switching out things like railroads with ride-shares.
The staples though, like jail, taxes and chance cards are still featured in the game which retails for $19.99 at Wal-mart.
