Recall alert: Costway baby strollers recalled over strangulation concerns

Approximately 16,000 infant and child double strollers were recalled by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission on Thursday over entrapment and strangulation concerns.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission issued the recalls for three models of Costway strollers,

The strollers “violate the federal standard for carriages and strollers” according to the CPSC. The strollers allow a child’s body to pass through an opening between the tray and seat, leading to possible entrapment or strangulation, the agency said.

The strollers were sold on Costway’s website and also on Amazon between May 2016 and December 2019, the CPSC said. There have been no injuries reported.

The recalled models are:

  • Infant Double Stroller, model #BB4476 in red, gray, black
  • Infant Double Stroller, model #BB4613 in black.
  • Face to Face Double Stroller, model #BB4690 in gray

Strollers can be returned for a refund, the CPSC said. Consumers can call Costway toll-free at (844) 242-1885 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. PDT Monday through Friday or by email at recall@costway.com for more information. Costway is also contacting all known purchasers directly, the CPSC said.
