NBA in talks with Disney to restart season at Wide World of Sports Complex in July

The National Basketball Association said it is talking to the Walt Disney Company about restarting the 2019-20 NBA season at the Wide World of Sports Complex, owned by Disney’s ESPN.

ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex would be used as a single site for all NBA games and practices, WFTV reported.

That means no flying between multiple states for each team and no use of each team’s own facilities for games and fans.

The sports complex campus would also be used to house athletes and team staff.

“Our priority continues to be the health and safety of all involved, and we are working with public health experts and government officials on a comprehensive set of guidelines to ensure that appropriate medical procedures and protections are in place,” said Mike Bass, NBA chief communications officer.

Bass said the conversations, so far, have been “exploratory."

The season would restart in late July, officials said.
