Hidden camera discovered at Pittsburgh hospital

PITTSBURGH — A hidden camera has been discovered inside an employee restroom at West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh.

A spokesman with Allegheny Health Network, the company that operates the hospital, told WPXI the person responsible has been identified and will be prosecuted.

A source told WPXI the employee allegedly responsible worked there for 20 years before he was let go this week.

"The recent discovery of a hidden camera in an employee restroom at West Penn Hospital prompted an immediate investigation by the hospital's security team, including notification of law enforcement. The culprit in this criminal act has been identified and will be prosecuted accordingly. We are also working with law enforcement to retrieve photographs and/or video taken by the culprit and will be notifying identifiable individuals who have been victimized by the crime. We place the highest priority on safeguarding the privacy and dignity of our employees, patients and visitors, and are appalled that such a reprehensible act was committed on our campus."

It’s unclear how long the hidden camera had been operating.

AHN said they are working with Pittsburgh Police on the case, but the department did not return emails for a comment on the investigation.

No charges have been filed yet in the case, and the investigation is ongoing.
