Water main break causes major flooding in downtown Orlando

Orlando, Fla. — What started off as a water main break turned into a massive flood of water, covering the driveways and streets of downtown Orlando Monday afternoon.

At around 2:37 p.m. Orlando Police Department Lieutenant Cindy Lane said that units were on the scene of a water main break in the area of Summerlin Avenue and East Concord Street.

Traffic had been shut down at Summerlin between Concord and Amelia.

Reports of cars submerged underwater in the nearby areas have come out.

Water crews from Orlando Utilities Commission are draining the filled hole, and say that the break has lowered water pressure from 20 to 25 homes in the area.

They are working to get repairs completed by Monday night, but believe that it could take up to Tuesday morning to be done.
