WATCH: Lake Mary High principal and staff join school dance team for pep rally

LAKE MARY, FLORIDA — The principal and staff members of Lake Mary High School have proven they just may have more school spirit than the students.

In a video posted to the Lake Mary High School Facebook page, the school's award-winning step team - the Lake Marionettes - were performing at a pep rally last Friday right before the big football game against their rival Lake Brantley High. Halfway through the routine, principal Mickey Reynolds and about 30 of her faculty and staff hit the floor, busting moves right alongside the dance team! The students were thrilled,  erupting in cheers.

The video has received nationwide attention and has already racked up over 100,000 views on Facebook. But it’s not the first time Reynolds has cut loose with her students. At a pep rally last year, a video of her dancing with the step team went viral with over 4 million hits.

She says it’s one way she tries to connect with her young students on a personal level.

"The only way to make sure that we have a healthy, safe school environment where kids can learn and thrive and feel a part of it is if we connect with every student," Reynolds tells Today.  "We have to make a concerted effort to make those connections; we've seen what happens when we don't."
