Watch: Infrared version of the Falcon Heavy launch as seen from space

Earth’s orbit — This is a different view of Monday’s launch of the SpaceX Falcon Heavy rocket.

The huge rocket’s heat signature was captured by a plantet observation satellite as it headed to orbit.

The infrared photos were taken by the NOAA GOES-East weather satellite which orbits Earth at an altitude of 22,300 miles.

Thanks to GOES East we have a glimpse of what the Falcon Heavy launch, which was carrying the COSMIC-2 mission, looked like from 22,300 miles in space. How cool is that? More imagery: go.usa.gov/xyCGk

The STP-2 mission, called the toughest ever by SpaceX founder and CEO Elon Musk,  successfully delivered 24 more sateliites into orbit.
