ORLANDO, Fla. — A dashcam video, shared Monday via Reddit, stars a red sedan struck by debris from a cell tower while the driver heads Eastbound on I-4 between Princeton and Par ramps.
What appears to be the protective shroud of the cell tower is loosened by gusts of high wind and eventually breaks free, falling towards the interstate.
The object lands on the roof of the car and breaks apart instantly, casting bits and pieces of itself across the road.
These shrouds are commonly very thin, this piece in particular was constructed either from plastic or thin sheets of metal.
While cosmetic damage was likely observed, the object’s apparent fragility signals that no significant damage should have been done to the car.
The Florida Department of Transportation reported no injuries, and said that the incident had nothing to do with the I-4 Ultimate project.
