Orlando, Fla. — Officials with Virgin Trains were joined by state and local leaders Monday for the ground breaking on a new phase of the private train that will connect central Florida with south Florida.
Virgin Trains, formerly known as Brightline, already has been operating between Miami and West Palm Beach.
The new phase will connect South Florida to Orlando International Airport and eventually to Tampa if all goes as planned
The $4 billion, phase 2 project is expected to be completed by 2022.
The company also is in the process of constructing a train line between Las Vegas and Southern California.
