A deputy with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office rescued a woman who was in the middle of a retention pond.
The department tweeted a video saying Deputy Jason Hess potted the woman struggling in a retention pond. He then jumped in to rescue her.
Captions from the video reveal Deputy Hess responded to a call about a woman who wandered away from her home overnight. The woman was spotted walking into a retention pond, and it was known she didn’t know how to swim.
In the video, Deputy Hess is seen pulling the woman out of the pond to safety, rolling her on her side, and comforting her.
The woman survived and was taken to the hospital.
Deputy Hess dried off and went back to work.
