I-4 Ultimate Construction worker killed in downtown Orlando

Orlando, Fla. — The 56 year old construction worker was killed when steel being lifted off a truck fell on him in downtown Orlando Thursday morning.

It happened about 10 a.m. on South Street near the west on-ramp to Interstate 4.

Officials said Michael Tolman, an iron worker on the 'I-4 Ultimate Project' was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center in critical condition and later died.

Tolman is an employee for SGL subcontractor Shelby Erectors. The cause of the accident has not been determined, and SGL will conduct an investigation along with authorities, the company said.

Work across the 21-mile construction site has been temporarily suspended.
