The price at the pump is plunging - here’s why

Orlando, Fla. — You may find that trip to the gas station is a little more pleasant than last month or even last week!

AAA reports the price at the pump is down 8 cents from seven days ago and 21 cents from July.

The average price for a gallon of gas in Florida is about $2.44 per gallon, in Orlando its even lower at $2.39.

One year ago the Florida average was $2.78, which was still 2 cents lower than the national average.

AAA is attributing the plunge in price to the rise in domestic gasoline stock which reached a five month high this week.

“While gasoline demand increased week-over-week, it wasn’t enough to stay on pace with the huge jump in gasoline stocks. Therefore, pump prices continue to decline across the country.” said Jeanette Casselano, AAA spokesperson.

The biggest decline was in Ohio where residents saw a 19 cent drop in prices in the past seven days.

The cheapest gas though, is in Louisiana where a gallon averages $2.27.
