Registration now open for 2020 Python Challenge Python Bowl

Florida's annual Python Challenge has grown each year since its inception and this week Governor Ron DeSantis announced a major change coming to this year's competition aimed at removing invasive Burmese pythons from the Florida Everglades.

It's a collaboration of sorts between the state of Florida and the NFL.  Miami is the host city for this year's Super Bowl, so with that in mind, next year's Python Challenge will be called the 2020 Python Bowl.

The 2020 Python Challenge runs from January 10-19.  DeSantis says it will be one of several major events in south Florida in January.

“This Python Bowl will add to what is going to be a lot of events leading up to, and including the Super Bowl,” said DeSantis.

New this year, python hunters will have greater access to federally controlled lands, opening up more territory where the pythons can be found.

DeSantis also announced this week that the U.S. Department of the Interior will allow participants in the Python Bowl to hunt the secondary trails at Big Cypress National Preserve.
