Orlando bar apologizes for transphobic Instagram photo

ORLANDO, FLORIDA — The popular Orlando pool hall Sportstown Billiards is apologizing after posting an offensive photo to their Instagram account aimed at the transgender community.

The post was an image of a boy and a girl, peeking into their underwear, with  the words “There IS a Difference!” along with hashtags like #genetics, #wearedifferent, #xy, and #narcissism.

Many who saw the picture were outraged,  accusing the Milk District bar of being insensitive and prejudice.

“With a lot of things happening against the trans community, and what bathrooms are used for who, it was kind of naive, for whoever posted that post, to think it wouldn't cause an uproar,” said commenter Clarisa Kelley.

Sportstown deleted the post and issued an apology on their Facebook page.

“The words may mean little to you now, but we hope you can let our actions speak for us. For 38 years we have prided ourselves on fostering an inclusive and accepting environment where anyone is free and safe to be themselves. The fact that we have done anything to in anyway tarnish that is heartbreaking to us. We are sorry, from the bottom of our hearts.”

Loyal patrons came out defending the bar saying people are just way too sensitive.  Others accused Sportstown of deleting comments that were critical of them.
