Law enforcement across Central Florida are participating in “National Night Out” tomorrow October 1 and invite you to come out and meet the people behind the badge.
National Night Out is an "annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie." The program was started in 1984.
“It’s an opportunity for people to see our deputies in a non-enforcement type situation,” said Orange County Sheriff John Mina.
“It’s a way to promote neighborhood watch. And that’s basically the goal. We want more neighborhood watch programs. The more we have, we believe, it’s one of the number one ways you can prevent vehicle burglaries and residential burglaries in your neighborhoods.”
