Lockheed Martin opens innovation center at Orlando campus

Employees at the Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control facility in Orlando have a brand new Innovation Center at their disposal.

The 6,500 foot facility houses five different labs and will be open to employees to create and collaborate 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The Application Research Experimentation and Simulation (ARES) facility allows teams to conduct events on a 12-screen “hyperwall.”

The Genesis Lab features augmented and virtual reality, small robotics, high-powered computers and 3-D printers.

The Iris Lab is essentially a robotics test bay for conducting training, experiments, and research.  Lockheed Martin offers their staff a variety of drones at their disposal.

The Engineering Visualization Environment Lab affords animators the opportunity to take complex ideas and bring them to life through feature-film quality renderings.

The Innovation Center’s fifth and final lab, slated to open in early 2019, is the Polaris Lab.  The lab will employ sensor, optics and laser testing to provide rapid response for employees and program deployment.  It’s a fire-control lab aimed at developing new technology.

This is Lockheed Martin’s second Innovation Center.  Last year, the aerospace giant opened a similar facility at its plant in Texas.
