Local organization collects supplies for mothers in need

ORLANDO, Fla. — One Heart for Women and Children of Central Florida is hosting a supply drive for dozens of mothers staying in a shelter.

Founder Stephanie Bowman tells News 96.5 WDBO she’s organizing the effort to help women living at the same shelter where she stayed 20 years ago.

“We are collecting Wal-Mart gift cards, shampoo, conditioner, journals...some of the comfort things that you would want such as socks, as well,” said Bowman.

Other items you can donate include deodorant, laundry soap, wash cloths and paper towels.

Bowman says once the items have been collected, they plan to put them in bags and take them to the women just in time for Mother’s Day on Sunday.

If you’re unsure of what to donate, you can also donate money or gift cards.
