Kissimmee police honor fallen officers with community event

Kissimmee, Fla. — This weekend marks two years since investigators say Everett Miller shot and killed Officer Matthew Baxter and Sergeant Sam Howard. They died while responding to a call near Palmway and Cypress streets in Kissimmee.

To honor and celebrate their legacy, the police department is holding a Community Appreciation Day event at the station.

From 10 am to 2 pm, you and the whole family can enjoy FREE food, bouncy houses, and even a tour of the police department.

Jury selection for Miller's trial will begin on Monday, with opening arguments expected to begin on August 26th or 27th. Officer Baxter's wife Sadia says she will be there every day of the trial out of respect for her husband's legacy.
