Florida man tries to trade bag of pot for McDonald’s

PORT ST. LUCIE, FLORIDA — A Florida man was arrested after police say he tried to pay for his McDonald’s meal with a bag of pot.

According to the Port St. Lucie Police Department, Anthony Gallagher, 23, went through the drive-thru of the McDonald's on South West Boulevard around 2 a.m. on Sunday and offered the fast food worker a baggie of marijuana in exchange for food. Gallagher drove away after the worker turned down his offer.

Employees called police and a short time later, Gallagher returned to the restaurant. Police said the officer could smell marijuana coming from the car and that's when they found around 11 grams of pot in the vehicle. Gallagher admitted to offering the pot to the worker but claimed that it was just a joke.

The Miami Herald reports that Gallagher's speech was slurred, his eyes were dilated and he appeared to have "pink eye."

Gallagher has been charged with marijuana possession and driving under the influence.
