Fla. counties want their own rail projects

With funding agreements for SunRail signed on Monday, other areas of the state are clamoring for rail projects of their own.

Congressman John Mica has fought 20 years for SunRail.

“The question has already turned to who gets the next leg,” he said.

Mica said Flagler and Alachua counties are asking about it and so is Gainesville.

Congresswoman Corrine Brown said she's making plans for Jacksonville's rail needs.

“I don’t know whether you’ve ever tried to fly from Orlando to Jacksonville, you got to go to Atlanta, Georgia,” Brown said. “We don’t have good connectivity.”

She also hinted about plans for a commuter rail line down the coast to Miami.
