Orlando, Fla. - The Orange County Sheriff's Office says they have arrested a man who is responsible for stealing a bunch of expensive items from a popular attraction at the Magic Kingdom.
According to the arrest warrant, 24 year old Patrick Spikes, a former Walt Disney World Cast Member, entered a restricted area of the park and stole over $7,000 worth of items, including various costumes and wigs from the animatronics in the famous ballroom scene of The Haunted Mansion. He then reportedly resold them online, claiming that the items were obtained with permission from Disney and that it was his personal collection.
The warrant also shows details of the stolen Buzzy animatronic from Epcot's old Cranium Command attraction, which was reportedly sold for $8,000.
So far, only a dress from one of the animatronics has been recovered, but the people who purchased the items are cooperating with investigators.
Spikes is behind bars and faces charges of burglary, grand theft, and dealing in stolen property.
