Today is the day the ban on bump stocks goes into effect, according to a December ruling by the Department of Justice.
So what do Central Florida residents do if they own one of the controversial rifle attachments that can increase the rate of gun fire?
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives lists two options on their website here.
First, they say you can destroy it by either melting it, shredding it, or crushing it.
The second option listed by ATF may be a little easier.
You can drop it by one of their local offices in Orlando.
There are two, one on Lake Lynda Dr. not far from the University of Central Florida campus, and another one on West Central Blvd. in downtown Orlando, right next to I-4.
ATF suggests you call first before coming in with your bump stock.
The phone number to ATF’s Lake Lynda office is 407-254-4100.
The phone number to ATF’s West Central Blvd. office is 407-384-2411.
